COURSE STRUCTURE AND ASSIGNMENTS

COR/COTR Refresher (Course #: SE-01) (Tuition $330) (8 hours)

The COR/COTR Refresher may be taken in an online or correspondence format. Both formats consist of three chapters – each representing the same amount of material that would be covered in two hours of classroom instruction. Each chapter includes exercises and a quiz. Upon completing each chapter, the participant must forward the exercise and quiz answers to Houseman & Associates for review and feedback. Upon completing the third chapter, the participant takes a final exam (25 short answer questions). Approximately one hour is allotted within the Program to review/study for the final exam. The participant has one hour to take the final exam.

Simplified Acquisition Refresher (Course #: SE-02) (Tuition $520) (24 hours)

The Simplified Acquisition Refresher (SAR) Self-Study Program consists of two segments each of which represents about the same amount of material as would be covered in 1.5 days of classroom instruction. Segment One covers Chapters I through III; Segment Two covers Chapters IV through VI. Each chapter has quizzes with accompanying answer keys. Segment One includes a 1-hour, mid-term exam (35 short answer questions). Segment Two includes a 1.5-hour final exam (55 short answer questions).

Small Purchase Descriptions (Course # SE-03) (Tuition $440) (16 hours)

The Small Purchase Descriptions Self-Study Program consists of three chapters, each includes self-testing quizzes and exercises. Each chapter contains the same amount of material that would be covered in classroom instruction as follows: Chapter I: Small Purchase Descriptions and Work Statements Basics (3 Hours), Chapter II: Purchase Descriptions (4 Hours), and Chapter III: Work Statements (7 Hours). Upon completing the last chapter, the participant must notify Houseman & Associates that he/she is ready for the final exam (25 short answer questions.) Approximately one hour is allotted within the Program to review/study for the final. The participant has one hour to take the final exam.

EXAMINATIONS

Examinations may be taken on an Open Book basis. They must be returned to Houseman & Associates. We will grade them within 10 days of receipt and provide the results to the participant including the rationale underlying any incorrectly answered questions. Passing grade for the COTR Refresher exam is 17/25 (70%). One retest with a different exam will be allowed if the participant's score is less than 70%.A passing grade for the Simplified Acquisition Refresher Program is 56/90 (70%) - representing the aggregate score of the mid-term and final exams. One retest of the final (with a different exam) will be allowed if the participant's aggregate score is less than 70%.Passing grade for the Small Purchase Descriptions and Work Statements exam is 17/25 (70%). One retest with a different exam will be allowed if the participant's score is less than 70%.

TIME LIMITS

COR/COTR Refresher (Course #: SE-01)

Participants are allowed 45 days from date of receipt of a password (online format) or receipt of the training package (correspondence format) to complete the training program including the final exam. A one-time extension of 15 days may be requested by the participant’s supervisor and will be considered by Houseman & Associates on a case-by-case basis.

Simplified Acquisition Refresher (Course #: SE-02)

Participants are allowed 90 days from date of receipt of the training package to complete the training program and return the mid-term and final exams to Houseman & Associates. A one-time extension of 30 days may be requested by the participant's supervisor and will be considered by Houseman & Associates on a case-by-case basis.

Small Purchase Descriptions(Course # SE-03)

Participants are allowed 60 days from date of receipt of the training package to complete the training program and return the final exam to Houseman & Associates. A one-time extension of 20 days may be requested by the participant's supervisor and will be considered by Houseman & Associates on a case-by-case basis.

CERTIFICATE. A training certificate will be provided to the participant upon successful completion of a Houseman & Associates Self-Study Program. At the participant's request, a copy of the certificate will also be forwarded to his/her supervisor or training officer.
